5/22/07 - Canal Room, Riker Hill Records Launch Party, New York, NY
By: Joey C

This was a private party for the launch of our record label, Riker Hill Records. Considering the tight guest list (they wanted to leave plenty of room for industry and press) we had all of our families, our closest friends and all the people that work for the band in attendance – even some of our “z- street team”. (see what special rewards you get for being a part of the z-team?) =)

Eddie Trunk hosted the event with plenty more celebrities on hand to party and watch the bands. There were hors d’oeuvres with an open bar and snacks for us in the dressing room. Nothing bad about living like this! There was a lot of pre-show mingling and then the night got underway. After a short introduction and thank you to all in attendance from the Riker Hill team, it was really time to get the party started.

Craving Lucy hit the stage first. This was the first time I got a chance to see our label mates in action and they definitely delivered!! They have great, catchy songs and they sound just like their CD live. Gotta give credit where credit is due – so far we can’t see anything wrong with the A&Ring at our new home. These guys have success stamped all over them.

Then it was time for ZO2! What a great response from all the industry, media and celebs in the crowd. Naturally our friends and relatives were screaming the loudest. It was nice to have everyone there for such a milestone for the band.

Then it was time for the press to get a hold of us for photos and interviews. Wow! I'm not sure if I've even been so overwhelmed. We must have taken a thousand photos! We haven’t even had a chance to look through all of them.

Thank you Riker Hill for a great night!! You definitely made us feel like rock stars. Now hang on, this crazy ride is just beginning........

This was such an amazing night. First of all, the club is awesome! They have a nice size stage, killer sound and great lights. The place was packed. One of the things that the club does to fill the room is to play dance music in between the bands. This draws all the girls from the outskirts onto the dance floor in the middle of the room. It's a great idea (if you can stomach the dance music). Secondly, we played with some great bands that night: Fixer and Noosphere and another local band that I can't remember their name (many apologies for that because, as anyone who was there that night can attest, they were great). Fixer alwayz puts on an amazing show and Noosphere is from that area so they had a lot of fanz there. The local band was memorable for a couple of reasons: 1) they all had stage blood dripping down from their eyes and they all wore black (very vampire-like), and 2) they covered the theme song from the movie "Lost Boys" which we thought was awesome! I love that movie and we used to toy with idea of covering it and then out of nowhere we hear them play it. It came out great.

We played a short, but powerful set that night. We put all of our strongest songs into the set and played hard. Philly is major market and that just means it's harder to break into. We did what we came to do and made a lot of new friends in the process. And as if the night needed more to make it great, there was a bachelorette party going on in the balcony. Those girls were going crazy during the audience participation part of "Ain't It Beautiful." (I later found out that they had a ton of booze and a male stripper up there so that may have a little something to do with their behavior. I still like to think it was mostly us!)

5/27/07 – Ball’s Bar & Grille, Cranston, RI

This was a benefit show for the all the people who died in the now infamous fire at the rock club, The Station, and it was a very special event for us. Having been in bands for what seems like my entire life, I’ve personally been in hundreds of clubs where pyro was used so, when this happened, it really hit close to home. And the crowd apparently felt the same. Everyone was sooo sweet and supportive.

We haven't been back to Rhode Island since the Kiss tour, but we will definitely be back very soon. Great people, great atmosphere, great food and really great beer!! Can’t wait to get back again.
